About Topaz
Topaz is a rare silicate mineral with the chemical composition of Al2 SlO4 (F1 OH) 2. Topaz is well known for three things those are being one of the world’s favorite colored gemstone being mineral number 1. 8.0 in Mohs scale of hardness and the traditional November birthstone. Its crystal system is orthorhombic and it frequently forms prismatic crystals.
Topaz has a specific gravity that ranges between 3.4 and 3.6. This is quite high for a mineral composed of Aluminum, Silicon and gaseous elements. Topaz is a gemstone that occurs in a wide range of natural and treated colors. Natural colors for Topaz included gold, blue, pink, brown, orange, colorless and rare shades such as pale green and red.
A variety known as “Imperial Topaz” is valuable and most of the world’s Imperial Topaz is found in Brazil. Topazes are usually found in Sri Lanka, Brazil, Africa and Russia. Most Europe people believe that Topaz improve poor vision and enhance mental power.
